Eirawen WIP Stage 1

Description

First of all Eirawen is a working title, it's a Welsh name meaning "snow white". When the work is finished, I'll probably be coming up with something different for it.

Secondly, this piece was inspired by the stunning TwiggX. She's an amazing model with quite the lovely stock gallery. I highly recommend checking it out. Also, her photomanipulations and other art over at her artist gallery are fantastic too!

Now, on to the real information here. This is one of 5 pieces required for my admissions portfolio for the Lamar Dodd School of Art at UGA. I decided to go ahead and show the progression of this piece as it went along partially because I have been extremely satisfied with all the "stopping points" in this technique and also because people have asked me about how I do pieces like this in the past. This is stage one: inked line art.

This piece is on 14"x17" vellum Bristol. At this stage it is pen and "ink." Ink being in quotes because it is actually thinned acrylic, which I find to be a much more inexpensive alternative to overpriced waterproof artists' inks. The underlying pencil sketch has been fully erased.

My apologies for the poor image quality. A bad camera and poor lighting in my apartment are major factors.
